Ramaciandra Carta has spent the past 5 years exploring and imagining the world of perfect classical ballet captured on film, arriving to photograph some of the best dancers on the international stage.
Born in Florence, Italy from an antique dealer and a goldsmith he had his first approach to the arts at a very early stage making the family artistic laboratory his playground.
From his studies in graphic design for media and advertising he graduated from the private school of business science in Florence specializing in marketing.
During his studies he started his career as a freelancer. During this time, he referred to himself as a “mercenary” working for local advertising agencies (because the artistic techniques used in advertising and commercial / fashion photography are all directed towards the goal of promoting a specific item - and does not serve an artistic purpose).
In 2013 he started the transition into fine art. After meeting the ballet master Victor Litvinov, he discovered classical ballet and fell in love with this unique niche of photography: ballet and dance photography.
First what caught Rama’s attention was the challenge from the high technical level required to photograph the fast movements of the dancers while creating a composition that catches the eye.
the artistic concept behind his ballet photography is to represent the personality, many years of training, dedication and sacrifice dancers make for the love of their craft - and to put this on paper (in the lens)
All the manipulation on and of camera he uses in order to create a beautiful and captivating image that will make the viewer pause and experience that single most precious moment in time.
Rama’s most popular images are crafted merging the dancer's creativity and self expression with structures that resemble classical buildings, landscapes and solid colored backgrounds.
He boasts a wide variety of work including wildlife and natural landscapes
